Have Questions About Your Report?

How is The Data Generated?

The data in your Monthly MacuMira Report is automatically calculated using the Patient IDs entered in the MacuMira Treatment Generator. Each treatment session recorded in the system is linked to a de-identified Patient ID, which allows us to track treatment activity, patient retention, and clinic performance over time.

Below is how each metric on the report is calculated:

Total MacuMira Treatments (Monthly)
This represents the total number of MacuMira treatment sessions performed during the month.

New MacuMira Patients (Monthly)
This counts the number of unique Patient IDs receiving their first recorded MacuMira treatment during the month.

Patients Who Missed Maintenance Treatment
This metric identifies patients who were expected to return for a maintenance treatment during the month but did not receive one. The calculation is based on Patient IDs that previously received MacuMira treatments and were due for maintenance according to the treatment schedule but had no treatment recorded for that month.

Monthly Retention Rate
The retention rate measures how consistently patients are returning for their scheduled maintenance treatments. It is calculated as:

Retention Rate = (Patients who completed their scheduled maintenance treatment this month ÷ Patients who were expected to return for maintenance this month) × 100

New Patient Acquisition Ranking (Decile Ranking)
Each clinic is compared to all other MacuMira clinics based on how many new patients they started in that month. Clinics are ranked into performance bands ranging from Top 10% to Bottom 10%, allowing clinics to see how their patient acquisition compares nationally.

Lifetime MacuMira Treatments
This is the total number of MacuMira treatments your clinic has performed since you began offering the treatment.

How Can I Improve My Performance?

Clinics that see the strongest results with MacuMira typically focus on three areas: patient identification, patient education, and maintenance adherence.

1. Identify more eligible patients
Many Dry AMD patients are currently told there are limited treatment options and may not realize that MacuMira is available. Reviewing your existing patient base, especially patients with diagnosed Dry AMD or early functional decline, can often uncover patients who may benefit from learning more about treatment.

2. Educate patients about the treatment pathway
Patients are more likely to start and complete treatment when they clearly understand what to expect. Explaining the initial loading phase, maintenance schedule, and potential benefits for visual function helps patients feel confident committing to treatment.

3. Improve maintenance follow-up
Retention is one of the biggest drivers of clinic performance. Clinics with high retention rates typically:

  • Schedule the next maintenance appointment before the patient leaves the clinic
  • Use reminder calls, emails, or texts prior to the appointment
  • Reinforce the importance of ongoing maintenance treatments

We also have ready-to-use marketing assets to help with patient outreach.

Why Might my Numbers Differ From What We Expected?

All metrics depend on consistent Patient ID entry in the MacuMira Treatment Generator.

If the same patient is entered using different IDs (for example: JM53 in one visit and JM_1953 in another), the system will interpret these as two different patients, which may affect metrics such as new patients, retention, and missed maintenance treatments.

If your clinic notices discrepancies in a report, the best solution is to ensure consistent Patient ID usage going forward. Once IDs are entered consistently, the following month’s report will reflect more accurate data.

What Happens During a MacuMira Success Call?

A MacuMira Success Call is a short, personalized session designed to help your clinic get the most out of your MacuMira program. During the call, a member of the MacuMira team will walk through your Monthly MacuMira Report with you and highlight opportunities to improve performance based on our learnings working with hundreds of clinics.

The goal of the call is to provide practical, clinic-specific recommendations that can help you grow your MacuMira program and support more patients living with Dry AMD.
